Mesoporosil® Silicium FAQs

Discover our most frequently asked questions on everything Mesoporosil® Silicium

What is MESOPOROSIL®?

MESOPOROSIL® is a dry powder made from mesoporous silica, designed to release high levels of Silicium. It is suitable for use in beautyceuticals, nutraceuticals, and cosmeceuticals.

Why is it called MESOPOROSIL®?

The name comes from its structure—mesoporous silica, a micron-sized particle with a porous network.

Where is MESOPOROSIL® used?

Silicium promotes healthy aging by building collagen and stimulating connective tissues like skin, hair, nails, joints, and bones.

Are there clinical studies?

Yes. Studies have demonstrated bioavailability through EX-VIVO (Ussing), pre-clinical (2021), and clinical (2023) IN-VIVO studies focusing on bone and skin health.

How does MESOPOROSIL® compare to other forms of Silicium like OSA?

MESOPOROSIL® transforms into OSA (Ortho Silicic Acid) after ingestion—OSA is the only bioavailable form. MESOPOROSIL® offers the same benefits as liquid OSA with added convenience and stability in solid form.

How is OSA produced from MESOPOROSIL®?

The digestive system transforms the mesoporous silica into OSA. The patented process ensures the powder is soluble and bioavailable.

What is Preblend MESOPOROSIL®?

It’s MESOPOROSIL® enhanced with stabilizers and bulking agents (70/30 ratio) for improved processability in manufacturing.

What is Triple A Certification?

Triple A = Activated solubility, Absorbed OSA, and Assimilation into plasma. Certified by Eytelia, it confirms solubility, bioavailability, and absorption.

How does it compare to SiO₂ in supplements?

MESOPOROSIL® outperforms traditional SiO₂ in solubility and absorption. Competitor products often add OSA to carriers like maltodextrin or collagen, but MESOPOROSIL® naturally achieves high bioavailability.

Why add other ingredients to the preblend?

To overcome manufacturing issues like dust, flowability, electrostatic charging, and compressibility while preserving Si release.

Are the added ingredients compliant?

Yes. All are food and pharma compliant, supported by a regulatory assessment (RA).

What makes MESOPOROSIL® different from standard SiO₂?

Standard SiO₂ is insoluble. MESOPOROSIL® is triple A certified—soluble, absorbable, and bioavailable.

What is the regulatory status?

Contains four EFSA/FDA/TGA/Anvisa-approved ingredients. Considered a physical mix of compliant components.

Origin of MESOPOROSIL®?

Mineral-based.

Optimal time to consume?

Morning (with breakfast) for fastest absorption. A split dose (morning/evening) is also effective.

Suitable dosage forms:

Tablets & mini-tablets
Hard & soft gel capsules
Sachets/stick packs
Gummies (matrix-dependent)
Powders & premix
Beverages & collagen shots (LQ format)
Subcutaneous injectables (specific protocol)
Toothpaste (with development partner)

Recommended dose:

100mg (up to 12mg assimilated Silicium)
50mg (with other actives)
100mg (bone health support)30mg of MESOPOROSIL® yields 14mg elemental Silicium, delivering approx. 10mg to the body.

How is the optimal dose determined?

Based on 30 years of clinical experience. 3–6mg/day shows results; 6–12mg/day is optimal.

Shelf life & stability?

Shelf life: 24 months (extendable to 36 months with testing)
Stability verified via long-term studies

Claims supported by studies:

Reduces wrinkles, improves skin elasticity & firmness
Strengthens nails and hair (gloss, thickness, volume)
Aids bone healing & remineralization

Is it food and/or pharma compliant?

Yes.

Active or excipient?

Both.

Labeling?

Depends on the country:e.g., SiO₂, Silica, Silicon Dioxide, Hydrated colloidal silica, Triple A silicium.

Trademarked?

Yes, requires a Trade Mark License Agreement (TMLA).

Novel food?

No. Approved under EFSA as Silicon Dioxide.

Nano classification?

No. Statement available upon request.

Compatibility with other ingredients?

Yes. Synergistic with D3, K2, Calcium, etc. Can also enhance solubility of other actives. Consideration needed for antioxidants.

Liquid form available?

Yes. MESOPOROSIL® LQ format is fully soluble and effective in liquids.

Effectiveness in different pH?

Effective across pH levels. Unlike standard OSA, it is not pH-dependent.

Absorption pathway?

Absorbed in the small intestine (primarily the ileum).

Absorption with gut issues (e.g., leaky gut)?

Absorption depends on gut health. Silicium may help improve gut lining integrity. Combining with probiotics or glutamate is recommended.

Liver toxicity?

No specific liver toxicity studies required. MESOPOROSIL® is compliant under the FDA silica monograph umbrella.
